NEWTON, Mass., October 10, 2000
- Allaire Corporation (Nasdaq: ALLR), a leading provider of Internet
software and services for companies building their business on the
Web, today announced the integration of its Java®
application server, JRun, with THOUGHT, Inc.'s®
CocoBase®
Enterprise O/R, a leading Object to Relational Mapping technology
for Enterprise Java Bean® (EJBä) servers. Addressing the high demand for a complete
development platform for database access with EJB by the growing
Java community, Allaire JRun Server now offers customers instant
generation of Container and Bean Managed Persistence (CMP/BMP),
delivering even stronger enterprise and e-commerce systems. In addition,
THOUGHT, Inc. has joined the Allaire Alliance as a Premier Partner.
"THOUGHT, Inc. is a valuable Alliance Partner and represents
Allaire's deep commitment to provide users with a pure, easy-to-use
Java application server that employs support for best of breed development
tools which add tremendous value to the overall architecture,"
said Dan Murphy, product marketing manager at Allaire. "JRun
Server integrated with CocoBase technology dramatically speeds up
and simplifies development, delivering flexibility and scalability,
and in turn, extends the capabilities of the entire Allaire Business
Platform for companies building advanced Internet business systems."
CMP allows developers to build EJB components without having to
directly deal with persistence during development. Since BMP requires
that developers write a certain amount of persistence code, the
use of CMP reduces the need for a developer to understand or to
implement persistence code, making development quicker and easier.
In contrast, the use of BMP simplifies editing and customizing persistence
code during development. Although BMP delivers much needed flexibility
to a developer, it also increases the complexity of creating the
bean along with managing it over the life of the application.
CocoBase Enterprise O/R integrated with Allaire's JRun Server provides
a solution to the two approaches because it manages the complete
creation of both CMP and BMP beans. In doing so, the developer can
easily choose between using either CMP or BMP beans with little
to no difference in the development process.
"Allaire and THOUGHT, Inc. have elevated the capabilities of
the 80,000 JRun Java developers worldwide with the integration of
CocoBase Enterprise O/R and JRun," said Ward Mullins, CTO of
THOUGHT, Inc. "The combined technologies offer customers and
their enterprise systems an effective solution for high-end database
access, reliable performance and easy implementation for building
applications on the EJB platform."
