San Francisco, CA. September 4, 2002 - THOUGHT Inc.®, The Dynamic O/R Mapping® Company, announces that the newly released version of CocoBase® Enterprise O/R includes expanded options for managing data with Distributed Caching that is based on the Java Message Service (JMS) specification from Sun Microsystems®, the creators of Java®. Providing the reliability of JMS based caching together with the market leading and award-winning Object to Relational Mapping tool, CocoBase®, is a solid solution for database access. In today's ROI based economy, companies need to be able to write applications that meet high performance and reliability requirements in less time, CocoBase® fulfills this need.

"Meeting the reliability needs of our enterprise customers with the Distributed JMS Cache option in CocoBase® while not sacrificing performance is an amazing achievement," said Ward Mullins, CTO for THOGUHT Inc.® "This follows our priority of keeping the options for achieving high performance simple to use and flexible for a wide variety of situations."

CocoBase® has expanded available caching options with an implementation of a JMS based distributed cache that can be used with clustering. It is based on the current JMS specification and integrates with third party JMS Messaging software. The CocoBase® JMS Cache is designed to work with any JMS 1.0 compliant messaging software stand-alone. The CocoBase® JMS Cache can also work with industry leading application servers such as BEA Weblogic, Sybase EAServer, JBoss and the Sun reference implementation application server.

For those customers who have distributed requirements that need to cache their data for performance reasons, this gives them a highly reliable, standards based solution. This especially applies to situations where customers need data integrity in real-time and the data is mostly "read only". CocoBase® JMS Caching can increase performance up to and over 20,000% versus using raw JDBC code with no caching. The performance gains are quite extraordinary considering that when caching data on a distributed system that all changes have to be copied throughout the system as well as to the database. The caching solutions for CocoBase® come as source code and can be modified as needed by the developer. This is more evidence of the open (not closed), extensible, flexible, and easy to use nature of CocoBase®.
