THOUGHT
Inc.®, The Dynamic O/R Mapping(tm) Company, announces the use
of CocoBase® Enterprise O/R by UAL Loyalty Services, Inc. the
wholly-owned subsidiary of UAL Corp. (NYSE: UALAQ.OB), to deliver
a web-based customer loyalty program called Silver Wings Plus (www.silverwingsplus.com).
The loyalty benefits program is uniquely designed for customers
55 years old and over. It offers them savings on travel with United
and 18 travel partners and as much as 50% off at luxurious hotels,
resorts and on cruises plus room upgrades and even free nights.
"We are
very satisfied with our choice to use CocoBase® for the Silver
Wings Plus project," said Bruce Wiener, CTO, UAL Loyalty Services,
Inc. "The tool greatly simplified the task of managing data
in the application and their support staff's quick response time
was key to our success."
The CocoBase
tool was used to map the data in the application to the Oracle database
providing the performance and scalability requirements needed. The
key benefit cited by the customer for choosing CocoBase, over our
competitors, was the ability to easily change and edit the maps
(where the details of the mapped data are stored). The application
is based on the Java 2 Enterprise Edition (J2EE), runs on Tomcat,
and uses CocoBase Dynamic Transparent Persistence on the backend
to manage the data. The team used CocoBase with the Eclipse development
environment to build their application.
"We are
pleased to work with United Airlines in the successful launch of
their Silver Wings loyalty benefit program expanding the delivery
of their services to customers worldwide," said Daniel Wilson,
Vice President of Sales and Marketing. "Their choice to use
CocoBase with Tomcat and Eclipse is a great example using best-of-breed
Java tools to deliver solid technology."
