San Francisco, CA. - July 28, 2004
THOUGHT Inc.®,
The Dynamic O/R Mapping Company, announces the integration
of CocoBase® Enterprise O/R, the market leader and award winning
Dynamic Object to Relational Mapping tool, with the open source
Eclipse Development Environment Version 3.0. This provides Eclipse
developers easy access to CocoBase's® powerful enterprise-level
data persistence functionality from within the tool environment.
Integrating CocoBase's® extensive feature-set for Object to
Relational Mapping provides developers with the ability to quickly
persist data using EJB CMP / BMP, Session Beans, Dynamic Transparent
Persistence, and stand-alone persistence all in one easy to use
toolset. Combine the CocoBase® ease of use with its' ability
to decrease up to 85% of the database access development costs and
you have a compelling value-add for companies using Eclipse.
Over time Eclipse
has effectively expanded its' capabilities to be highly useful for
enterprise-level developers. This has introduced requirements for
managing complex sets of issues around persisting data. Thought
Inc.® has responded by making CocoBase® easily available
from within Eclipse to quickly solve those typical enterprise-level
database access issues. Thought Inc.® customers are already
benefiting from using Eclipse with CocoBase®. For example, United
Airlines completed an application for their Loyalty Services division
using both CocoBase® and Eclipse together.
"We are
very satisfied with our choice to use CocoBase® for the Silver
Wings Plus project. The tool greatly simplified the task of managing
data in the application and their support staff's quick response
time was key to our success," said Bruce Weiner, CTO, UAL Loyalty
Services.
CocoBase®
Enterprise O/R is a vendor neutral Dynamic Object to Relational
Mapping layer that sits on top of the JDBC driver between
the application objects (often running in an application server
or stand-alone) and the database (which is usually a relational
database for most modern IT organizations). CocoBase® manages
the persistence and retrieval of data from the application to where
it is stored in the relational database.
CocoBase®
takes the database specific code and prewritten SQL out of the object
and saves this information to the mapping layer (i.e. map), thus
decoupling the object from being hard coded to the database. The
database specific code and SQL is dynamically created at runtime.
This allows objects to be easily reused over and over. This dynamic
layer provides a multitude of performance and scaling optimizations
that are easily changed by the programmer to best fit their specific
needs.

and Java Applications. This can directly decrease up to 85% of the
cost of database access development for enterprise customers faced
with deploying fine-grained / coarse grained relationships in company
applications.
